Wind Tunnel Test of Wind Loads on Various Shapes of Elevated Buildings for Antarctic Use
The report describes a wind tunnel study which evaluated the wind-induced loads on elevated buildings which were designed for Antarctic use. A 1/50 scale boundary layer wind model over a terrain category 2 (AS1170-2, 1989) was generated in Boundary Layer Wind Tunnel at the School of Civil and Mining Engineering, Sydney University. A force balance was used to measure the horizontal and vertical forces on building models. Mean drag, drag r.m.s., mean lift and lift r.m.s. coefficients of the models are presented for different building configurations and wind angles.
