The objectives of this research study were to: (1) evaluate field performance of stabilized BCS base materials as compared to a crushed stone base course under accelerated loading and (2) assess economic benefits of using stabilized BCS materials in lieu of a stone base course. BCS is short for blended calcium sulfate, a recycled fluorogypsum mixture that has been used in Louisiana as a roadway base for more than a decade.
