The Siege of Acre Project is one of several projects sponsored by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Power Plant Research Program (PPRP) to demonstrate the beneficial use of coal combustion by-products (CCBs). The project was designed to demonstrate the replacement of concrete with CCBs as the cementitious material in standard geotechnical applications. the objective of the project is to demonstrate the use a CCB-based grout to create an impermeable surface coating on sub aerial mine pavement, thereby preventing the formation of acid mine drainage (AMD) as water flows along the coated pavement.
