The action consists of approving an application for a license for constructed Mongaup Project No. 2578, located in Sullivan County, New York on the Mongaup River and its tributary Black Brook. The project consists of a concrete-gravity type dam about 45 feet high across the Mongaup River, impounding a reservoir with water surface at elevation 935 feet m.s.l. extending upstream about 2.5 miles; a powerhouse about 0.5 mile downstream from the dam with a total installed generating capacity of 4,000 kilowatts; a small feeder dam on Black Brook diverting water there from through an 0.8 mile long conduit into the surge tank of the main powerhouse penstock; outdoor substation; recreational features; and other facilities appurtenant to the project. The applicant does not expect continued operation of the project to cause adverse environmental impact.
