The 'American Geotech Wall' is a new earth modification technique for construction retaining structures. The method utilizes the passive resistance of the backfill on a deadman, located in the back of the wall, to provide the necessary resistance for the front face panels. Although the method is new in total concept, it utilizes the well-established concepts of passive resistance, tiebacks and concrete panels. The report summarizes such information in the actual construction of a retaining structure in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The report also includes a review of the current design procedures, and discusses improvements in the basic wall elements, modifications to the construction procedures, and specifications.
