Fire Department Ground Ladders. Results of a Preliminary Study
The performance requirements for fire department ground ladders were determined. Existing ladder standards were reviewed and found to be unnecessarily restrictive in some areas and inadequate and unrealistic in others. Included in the report are metallurgical studies of three ladders that failed in service as well as a correlation of hardness with tensile and yield strength for 6061-T6 alloy.
