Automation Needs Analysis for Civil Works Operations and Maintenance Activities
This report describes the results of a functional analysis of Civil Works Operations and Maintenance (O/M) missions to determine if and how automation--and microcomputers in particular--could be exploited to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Civil Works O/M workforce. The study covered nine CW functional management areas: program, dredging, energy, regulatory, emergency, natural resource, navigation, plant, and hydropower management. Significant management problems and proposed solutions--including nonautomated, Corps-wide automated, and local automated are presented.
