U.S. National Committee on Tunneling Technology (Report for 1981 and 1982): Summary
The U.S. National Committee on Tunneling Technology, a unit of the Commission on Engineering and Technical Systems, was formed within the National Research Council in 1972 by the Presidents of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Engineering. This biennial report describes the work of the Committee and its Subcommittees in calendar years 1981 and 1982. A brief synopsis is given of the Workshop on Technology for the Design and Construction of Deep Underground Defense Facilities, held on November 5th and 6th, 1981, in Washington, D.C. Information pertaining to the activities of the ITA is presented and a list of tunneling-related publications is included.
