An estimated 54,100 apartments were completed in buildings with five units or more in the first quarter of 2002--significantly fewer than the estimated 69,300 apartment completions for the fourth quarter of 2001. However, first quarter 2002 completions did not differ significantly from the estimated 60,900 apartments completed in the same quarter last year.
