Fire Tests on Loose-Fill Insulation Materials

A short review of the physical and chemical processes involved in smouldering fires of loose-fill insulation materials is presented. Various official and inofficial fire test methods are described and evaluated. Results of a series of tests made to evaluate the British Standard BS 5803:Part 4:1985 are presented. A proposal for a Nordtest method based on this standard is given as an apprendix. (ERA citation 13:015373)
