Visual Preferences of Travelers Along the Blue Ridge Parkway
The monograph describes the results of an in-depth, multi-disciplinary scientific study of the visual preferences of visitors along the scenic overlooks and vistas of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Many of the national parks in the United States are engaged in vista maintenance as part of road maintenance or resource management programs. Visitors 'see' parks along these road routes. Hence, the results of the research--which combines the disciplines of sociology, psychology, landscape architecture and forest recreation--should be of value to park managers and maintenance supervisors, as well as professionals responsible for the planning and design of park roadways.
