Seismic analytical model of shear strength for corroded RC column
A new seismic analytical model of the shear strength for corroded reinforced concrete (RC) column is proposed. The new model considers the decreases of cross-sectional areas of both corroded longitudinal tensile rebar and corroded stirrup, as well the variation of average ultimate bond strength between corroded longitudinal tensile rebar and surrounding concrete. The new model is verified by twenty-four published experiments from sixteen RC columns with/out corrosion, and eight corroded RC beams. The results predicted by the new model agree well with published experimental data. The contributions of longitudinal tensile rebar ratio, average ultimate bond strength ratio between longitudinal tensile rebar and surrounding concrete as well stirrup ratio to the total shear strength in the new model are also specified. The contribution of the variation of the average ultimate bond strength between corroded longitudinal tensile rebar and surrounding concrete to the total shear strength cannot be omitted due to 17 % proportion in corroded RC column.
