Supply side reform in China will favor Australian companies producing a higher grade product as steel makers look to improve the efficiency of furnaces. Western Areas accounted for 14% of Australia's total nickel production in 2015-2016, with Nickel West (BHP Billiton) and Minara Resources producing 28% each, and First Quantum accounting for 16%.
