Pile supports of high bearing capacity in casings on permafrost of Norilsk
Conclusions The presence of casings in the structure of pile supports with a diameter of 700–800 mm increases their standard bearing strength to 10,000–11,500 kN.Casings carried down to the supporting bed and whose sections are connected by a joint of equal strength eliminate the need for reinforcing the piles.Maximum effectiveness of using cased reinforced piles is achieved under a combination of the following conditions;the need for casing boreholes when driving through alluvial soils;the possibility of maximum use of their considerable bearing capacity:In permafrost it is recommended to use bored-situ cast piles in casings with a diameter of at least 500 mm in the case of a founding depth to 10 m; at least 700 mm to 20 m; and 800–1000 mm in the case of a greater founding depth. In the case of moderate corrosiveness of the groundwaters and planned operating time of the structure of more than 20 years the casing should have anticorrosion coatings. In the case of strongly corrosive groundwaters the use of cased concrete piles is not permissible.
