Settlements of turbogenerator foundations in the first power unit of the Kura nuclear power plant
Conclusions 1. The results of full-scale instrument observations made it possible to establish that the active settlement stage of turbogenerator foundations continued for a period of three years after the start of construction. Maximum settlements over the entire period amounted to 18–20 mm in contrast to their design value of 58 mm. 2. After two years of service, the settlements stabilized at a certain level relative to which fluctuations from ±1 to ±1.5 mm occurred to variation in temperature regimes. 3. External factors — the control of construction-assembly work, water table fluctuation, and the vibration of power equipment — did not have a significant effect on the progress of deformations of the turbogenerator foundations.
