Performance characteristics of metallic foundations beneath turbine-feed pumps of heavy-duty power-generating units
Abstract Metallic foundations have a small mass with appreciable clearance dimensions; for an essentially nonlinear stiffness of the superstructure, this brings about high sensitivity to temperature changes in the surrounding medium and nonuniformity of vertical deformations of the longitudinal axis. It is demonstrated in an example of the behavior of the metallic foundation of a turbine-feed pump that even with vigorous nonuniform cooling of the foundation, these characteristics do not have a noticeable negative effect on the operating conditions of heat engines installed on these foundations and they can be recommended for broad use.
