Effective Method for Dynamic Compaction of Slightly Cohesive Saturated Soils
Abstract Results of theoretical and experimental investigations under laboratory conditions are cited for a method of dynamic compaction of slightly cohesive saturated soils subject to aeration around the perimeter of the zone of compaction. The method described makes it possible to improve the compactive effect as a result of amplification of oscillations in the compaction zone, and attenuate them appreciably beyond the limits of the aerated wall; this considerably reduces dynamic effects on nearby structures.
