Laboratory and field investigations of the artificial base of the Kislogubsk tidal electric station (TES)
Conclusions For artificial bases of tidal electric stations, an advisable measure is the use of comparatively inexpensive, natural, not well-graded sand-gravel soils not prone to piping, in spite of the current practice of utilization of uniform gravel or broken stone.Under a permanently varying sea level, a justified measure is the pouring off of the soil into water by means of a bucket grab, with the bucket being opened when reaching the ground. An artificial base constructed in this manner has uniform mechanical composition, as well as uniform filtration and piping properties. The arrangement of antipiping frames at the bases of tidal electric stations is expedient. Such frames hinder the development of piping at the contact of the TES block and the base.
