Analysis of a circular tunnel lining, considering the seepage through the lining and the consolidation-grouted zone
Conclusions Loadbearing linings should be designed for the difference between the pressure in the tunnel and the ground-water pressure $ P_{0} $-$ P_{2} $ without taking into consideration the backpressure $ P_{1} $ on the lining. In tunnels with load-bearing linings, the consolidation grouting reduces the load on the lining only as a result of the increase of the modulus of elasticity of the surrounding rock and of the compression of the lining under the grouting pressure [4], but not as a result of the increase (for $ P_{0} $>$ P_{2} $) or decrease (for $ P_{2} $>$ P_{0} $) of the backpressure on the lining, i.e., the possibilities of the consolidation grouting are not fully utilized. The consolidation-grouted zone is more fully utilized in tunnels with a thin, compensating lining of a nonbearing nature, in which the pressure is transmitted to the consolidation-grouted zone [5].
