Calculation of zones of river pollution from tributaries
Conclusions A software package making it possible to calculate the unsteady fields of currents, level, and passive admixture (temperature or concentration) in the mixing zone of two rivers of an arbitrary configuration was created for the first time within the framework of a two-dimensional, depth-averaged model of fluid flow. The results of the calculations agree with the on-site measurements.A shortcoming of the proposed approach is the quite approximate determination of the values of coefficients A and B in Eqs. (1), (2), and (4). Whereas coefficient A very weakly affects the calculation results, the effect of coefficient B is quite substantial.
