Refined calculation of nonuniform motion in canals
Conclusions A refined differential equation of nonuniform motion was obtained with consideration of variation of the kineticenergy correction factor and Chezy coefficient.The possibility of finding an analytical solution of the refined differential equation was examined. The solution was obtained for a hydraulic exponent of the channel X=3 characteristic of wide canals.A program for numerical calculation of the equation on a computer was compiled.Integration of the equation for various conditions of motion was carried out with the use of the program.A detailed analysis of the integration results was made, it was established that the refinement can reach 30–50% compared with the known method of calculating nonuniform motion proposed by Bakhmeteff.
