Conclusions The experience of operating the RONT-115/812-V-630 pump-turbines at the Zagorsk PSS mainly confirmed the correctness of the design decisions made.When designing new PSSs it is necessary to provide for the installation of turbine gates with a fast-acting hydraulic drive on the upstream side, using them in the technology of the synchronous capacitor regime.The design of the end seal of the guide vanes requires reworking, although under the condition of installing a turbine gate for new stations this problem can eliminate the urgency.The design of the end shaft seal with the graphite—bronze contact pair has an insufficient life and effectiveness, and therefore this problem requires the search for new designs.
