Magnitude and rate of heave in tunnels in calcium sulphate bearing rocks
Summary Heave in tunnels in calcium sulphate bearing rocks was the subject of a research work including large scale field measurements as well as laboratory investigations. This report gives some information on the results. Heaving was found to be related to the type and amount of clay minerals especially to a mineral called corrensite. Some data on magnitude and velocity of swelling and swelling pressures under various restraining conditions are presented.
