Geoacoustic methods in the slope stability investigation
Summary In order to investigate the activity and depth extent of very slow mass movements of creep-like type, the monitoring of natural acoustic effects of the rock mass under deformation can be used. Rock noise events are scanned by sensitive transducers and recorded. On the basis of the measurement results of 22 landslides, limits of frequency and intensity of natural rock noise events were established for a stable slope. The geoacoustic method can serve as a suitable supplement to the direct methods of slope movement surveying.
