Geological mapping for projects on underground works in crystalline rocks in Brazil
Summary The purpose of this paper is to show how geological and structural maps on crystalline rocks in Brazil are made. A brief description is given of the petrographic and mineralogical characteristics of these rocks and of the principal types of structures occurring in such rocks and factors influencing excavation stability. The most important aspects to be examined during mapping and the measures to be adapted for final propping, are presented.
