The geothermal area of the eastern border of the andes of north Argentina at Tucumán province
Abstract At the eastern border of the Andes there is an important thermal area which is known through surface phenomena and drilling. In this area thereis no vulcanism. The thermal phenomena are related to deep tectonic and magnatic activity. The studies of geothermometry carried on in the province of Tucumán ($ 26^{o} $–$ 28^{o} $ lat. S) indicate deep temperatures higher than 200°C at several points. According to these data a geothermal field of economical interest may exist in this area.
