Some experiences with an electrical static penetrometer
Summary This article gives a brief introduction to the electrical static penetrometer and its applications which was developed from 1963 in our country. It is stressed that the main characteristics of this prototype of our penetrometer have been proved to be reliable sensitivity and watertightness, and meanwhile the compressibility and shearing strength of the soil can be more sufficiently transduced during penetrating. Such a new technique has been widespread all over our country. For the time being, further approaches for more usages in natural soils and pile foundations are being undertaken.
