Foundation dynamic properties of meta-sedimentary rocks from cross hole seismic tests
Summary Dynamic moduli of weak rocks required for power plant foundation design were derived from shear wave velocities. The shear wave velocities were determined, using the cross-hole seismic technique, at three sites selected to be representative of the different rock types present at the site. After correcting the field results for possible confining stress effects, average shear moduli for different rock units were determined. These shear moduli fall between published values for dense soils and sound rocks.
