Theoretical Investigation of the Scouring Dynamics of a River Bottom near an Underwater Crossing
This study is devoted to modeling of currents in channels, and transport of drift during scouring of pipelines. Results obtained from laboratory experiments of flows past a cylinder in a channel with a scour-prone bottom are analyzed. The experiments serve as the factual basis for formulation of a numerical hydrodynamic model. The kinematic regime is analyzed, and the scouring dynamics predicted for investigation of local channel stability in the vicinity of underwater crossings.
