Deposition of Solid Particles from a Concentrated Suspension
Approximate values of the coefficient of permeability are established on the basis of experimental and theoretical data as a function of the proportionality factor of the square of particle diameter in a porous medium formed by a single-grain material. The analogy of hydraulic radius is introduced for the pore space, with use of which filtration in this space, which is formed by particles that are not in contact one with another, and do not form a rigid skeleton, permit calculation of the deposition of highly concentrated particles. A model and relationships, which make it possible to calculate the deposition of heavily concentrated particles are proposed when the model based on fall velocity generates large errors. Ranges of application of the proposed model are defined.
