Structural Audit and Assessment of Application of External Post Tensioning Method on Bridge Girder
There are many existing concrete bridges in harmed condition due to weathering and progressive traffic load in India and mainly in metro cities. They require retrofitting arrangements. External post tensioning is an excellent strategy for connect retrofitting. Different advantages and issues with respect to execution of post-retrofitting conduct should be concentrated in detail. Concrete girders of bridge were distressed. Many bridge components have cracks. The main objective of this paper is to study is first to identify the damage in Mutha river-bridge especially in bridge girder and to suggest the application of an external post tensioning to increase traffic load carrying capacity of bridge by strengthening bridge girders. Initially to identify the damage in bridge structural audit is performed using NDTs (Rebound hammer test and ultrasonic pulse velocity test). For analysis initially Mutha river-bridge was analyzed with the Csi Bridge software by applying closed material properties determined from audit. At that point the brace which must be retrofitted is broke down with SAP2000 programming by utilization of external post tensioning. Increasing the tendon eccentricity leads to increase tensile force in girder which increases the load capacity of the section. The aim of this paper is that by using post tensioned cables increases significantly the load carrying capacity of the girder. The results show that increasing in moment capacity of girder increased by 58%. Considering factors such as the post tensioned force and the cable eccentricity.
