Experimental Study of the Fire Behaviour of Wooden Facades
Abstract The development of various configurations of wooden facades, these last years, is one of the good solutions to improve the energy performance of buildings in normal conditions. Furthermore, the greater interest to integrate bio-based products such as straw, wood fibre, cellulose wadding insulation, etc. into the wooden facades must be accompanied with serious studies in order to avoid the fire risks that these types of facades and products can generate. The use of performance based code and fire safety engineering can give a significant contribution in order to analyze the real fire risks of those new products and systems. But it is necessary to validate these products and systems by small-scale and real fire tests. In this paper an experimental study concerning the fire behaviour of wooden facades has been presented. The aim of that study is to propose safety wooden facade systems and to contribute to the revision of the regulations relative to the fire risks in the buildings.
