Analyzing Problems Affecting the Operation of the Construction Enterprise Due to COVID-19 Pandemic—Case Studies in Vietnam
From a social to an economic perspective, COVID-19 has had a significant impact on the entire world, affecting almost all fields. After a successful first year of fighting the pandemic, Vietnam entered a difficult period when the epidemic spread rapidly from the end of May 5th, 2021. Construction companies were among those most severely impacted by the shutdown, which interrupted business operations. Most construction companies find it challenging to operate when faced with important problems such as the volatility of the supply chain stagnation, equipment rental expenses and material purchases, and several construction projects being delayed due to the impact of the virus on workers. The purpose of this research is to figure out the impacts that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on construction companies in Vietnam. Researchers conducted a survey of individuals and experts in the construction industry and analysed data using the Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) method. The results of this study identified six major categories of 37 impacts of the pandemic on construction companies. Additionally, this study ranked the impacts based on the level of assessment of surveyed people. The findings demonstrated that labour shortage is the greatest negative impact on the construction industry.
