Experimental Study on Concrete Spalling of Post-tensioned Concrete One-Way Slab
In this study, concrete spalling of post-tensioned (PT) concrete one-way slab structure was evaluated through fire experiments. Four fire experiments were conducted in simply-supported condition (unrestrained), heated only in one slab surface (bottom). Input fire scenario followed the procedure in ASTM E119-20, targeting 2 h (2) and 3 h (2) of fire-resistance performance. Heating temperature ended up in 1010 °C and 1052 °C, respectively. Concrete strength, duration of concrete curing time, existence of longitudinal reinforcement, and water content of concrete appeared to affect the degree of concrete spalling. Other parameters of the number of longitudinal reinforcing bars and minimum concrete cover were also influential to the slab damage. After the experiment was conducted, the depth and size of the concrete spalling was examined.
