Construction of the turbine penstocks of the Charvak hydroelectric station
Conclusions 1. The expediency of using manual or automatic submerged arc welding or electroslag welding is solved by a technical-economic analysis in relation to the parameters of the penstocks sections, length of continuous welds, type of welds, and design of the device. 2. In the case of a large volume of assembly work during construction of small penstocks, it is expedient to set up special shops equipped with a 50-ton bridge crane and stationary roller stands. If the automatic welding shop does not have bridge cranes, it is necessary to use universal portable roller stands for automatic welding. 3. The parameters of modern penstocks are increasing continuously, in connection with which the demands imposed on the materials for their manufacture are increasing. Of particular importance are problems of the technology of manufacture and assembly, the observance of which ensures high-quality construction. 4. A common feature of present plans for the assembly of turbine penstocks is the quest for maximum reduction of the cost of constructing a hydroelectric station and shortening of the construction period, increase of reliability, and improvement of the operating conditions. The ever-increasing demands for reliability and economy of penstocks, new techniques, and automation of construction operations require a further increase in the efficiency of assembly work.
