Entropy and Civil Engineering Optimization
Abstract Recent research is surveyed which has demonstrated the value of the Maximum Entropy Principle in many aspects of civil engineering analysis as a means of logically infering missing data. The numerical optimization process is characterized as one of infering a solution from partial information. New strategies for numerical optimization based upon entropy maximization are introduced.
