Electrical Behaviour of Heavy Electron Compounds
We consider in this paper certain aspects of the electrical resistivity behaviour of selected heavy electron compounds. First we classify the compounds into two broad categories:
Compounds exhibiting convexity followed by resistivity saturation or virtually temperature independent resistivity: Np, UPt3, UIn3, USn3 also U2Ti and U3T (T = Si, Os, Ir) (to be discussed later), UPt, UCd11:
Phases with a negative temperature coefficient of resistivity down to low temperatures ( ∼ 50K) leading to anomalous maxima and a precipitous drop to zero/small value at subkelvin temperatures: U2Zn17, NpBe13, CeCu6, CeAl3, CeCu2Si2, CePb3 and UBe13 — in the order of increasing sharpness of the low temperature maximum.
