Influence of Silicon Carbide Particulates on Vibrational Characteristics for Al 7075 Composites
Aluminium and its composites play a significant role in various applications like aircrafts, automobiles and transportation industries. The vibration study is significantly important because it yields the clear results about the dynamic responses and mode shapes. Designers should consider modal shapes and frequency at resonance while designing the component. The modal analysis gives concrete information for the designers to analyse the vibration effects when a members are subjected to external excitation. The main significance of the present paper is to understand the vibration characteristics of Al7075 fabricated with increasing weight percentage of Silicon Carbide for cantilever boundary condition. The fabrication is obtained by stir casting technique. The dynamic responses such as natural frequencies and modal shapes are analysed using Fast Fourier Transformation analysis and validated with the simulation using ANSYS software. The results of vibration tests are intricately analysed and tabulated. Further, the values obtained from experimental study and the software analysis agrees with each other and thus proving that the addition of silicon carbide reinforcements up to 8% of weight yields to better damping characteristics.
