The Dissemination of Military Perspective through Fortification Treatises between the Sixteenth and Eighteenth Centuries
Abstract This paper describes the rapid dissemination of the technique of military perspective by writers of fortification treatises beginning in the sixteenth century in France and Spain, thanks to the operational advantages it represented for engineers of the time. The study reviews the analyses of authors who dedicated chapters to the topic and surveys the images that shaped their impressions.
