Many-Body Aspects of the Theory of Fermi Liquids Near Boundaries
Abstract Quasiparticle scattering at walls confining a Fermi liquid (3He or conduction electrons in metals) is usually described by imposing boundary conditions on the quasiparticle distribution function. I review the derivation of such a boundary condition from first principles. The method is specifically designed to work also in the superfluid (superconducting) state of the Fermi liquid.
