Effect of unit consumption of explosives on efficiency of tunnel heading advance
Conclusions An investigation of the phenomena observed during explosions of blast-hole charges and a study of the factors affecting the magnitude of the unit explosives input enable the following conclusions to be made: 1. The unit explosives input in headings of horizontal underground excavations of medium sectional area should be determined by Eq. (12). 2. Depending on the explosives used, their unit input varies within limits close to the values of the conversion coefficients. 3. In closely jointed and stratified rocks, when designing horizontal underground excavations the unit explosives input should be applied with a coefficient ranging from 0.7 to 0.99, depending on the nature of the jointing and stratification of the rock. 4. The actual unit explosives input varies in accordance with the coefficient of rock toughness.
