Evaluation of Surface-Coated Recycled Coarse Aggregate in Concrete Using Alccofine
Concrete is a versatile building material that is widely employed in industry. Concrete's basic component, coarse aggregate, accounts for 60% of its volume. However, due to the depletion of conventional aggregate, the development of new sustainable materials has become critical. To lessen dependency on natural aggregate, one alternative is recycling coarse material. Unfortunately, recycled coarse aggregate reduces concrete durability and strength. This study tries to circumvent this constraint by coating the recycled aggregate surface with alccofine. In increments of 100, 75, 50, and 25% conventional aggregate was replaced with alccofine-coated aggregate. The durability and strength properties of the concrete were investigated, and the findings revealed that surface-coated alccofine aggregate outperformed uncoated recycled aggregate in terms of strength and durability. As a result, alccofine surface coating can be used as a treatment procedure to improve the qualities of recycled aggregate.
