The Urban Underpass Design Based on AASHTO Specifications
With the development of economics and growth of population, the city development tends to be more three-dimensional. Underpasses can reduce land occupation and minimize interference with surrounding buildings, therefore, so underpasses are increasingly used in urban transportation infrastructure construction. According to the AASHTO design specifications, this paper summarizes procedures and key points of the urban underpass design issues. Based on an actual project, the design load, loading mode, flexural resistance analysis, shear resistance analysis are carried out, and the relevant analysis results are compared between American AASHTO specifications and Chinese JTG specifications. The result of this paper can be applicable to similar project construction.
