Bond Enhancement of Carbon Textile Reinforcement by Nano-silica Deposition
The bond enhancement of carbon textile reinforcement is one of key issues for construction of textile reinforced concrete. The improvement of bond of textile reinforcement has been essential to take its advantage in reduction of weight and strength achievement of thin concrete members. However, insufficient bond behavior of most textile reinforcement has been one of unsolved problems. The improvement of bond of textile reinforcement has been achieved by applying epoxy coating with sand. However, demands on high temperature resistance have restricted further application of these approaches. In this paper more refined surface modification by nano-silica deposition is investigated. The pullout response of carbon textile reinforcement embedded in ultra-high performance concrete is experimentally reported in this paper. Several treatments such as atmospheric pressure plasma were applied to effectively depose the nano-/micro-silica on the surface of carbon yarns.
