Analysis and optimization of welding techniques for austenitic stainless steel using grey relational analysis
The present study aims to explore the suitable welding technique for Austenitic Stainless Steel (ASS) material through multi-criteria decision making approach i.e. Grey Relational Analysis (GRA). For this purpose, seven selection criteria are identified with the help of literature and expert’ suggestions and assigned the same weightage to all selection criteria. We have identified eight most widely used welding techniques through the comprehensive literature review for stainless steel material. From the application of GRA approach, it is observed that Tungstun Inert Gas welding obtained 1st rank and found the most suitable welding process for ASS material as per selected criteria. This welding exhibits the minimal heat affected zone and better weld strength for ASS material. This study would facilitates to industrial person and engineers in selection of appropriate welding technique for ASS material with the specified performance characteristics.
