Chromatic Plans for Urban Furniture: The Case of Multicolored Urban Zones
The concept of sustainable cities comes along with the concern of the population’s comfort and must be supported by a coherent sustainable design including landscape and urban planning strategies that contribute to a better use of the cities, reinforcing their identity. Urban furniture is an important part of these strategies, providing information and wayshowing. For this purpose, its elements must be clearly visible and legible, being color an important component to accomplish these features. Most cities have a restrict variety of colors, that enables the establishment of a chromatic plan to urban furniture. However, others, such as Burano in Italy or some Irish towns, are constituted by such a variety of colors, making it impossible to establish a dominant chromatic pallet.
The aim of this paper is to propose some possible solutions for this problem, creating Urban Furniture Plans that will allow a good visibility and legibility for its elements.
