Traditional Ventilation Skills of Lingnan Chinese Architecture – a Case Study of Macau Mandarin’s House

As global warming issue has been worsened all the time in recent decades, more and more people start to find a sustainable way to live with and protect the environment for future. It is beneficial to look back on how people made use of nature in the past days. Traditional ventilation skill is one of the approaches to keep building sustainable in terms of architecture design. This article takes Macau Mandarin’s House as an example to analyze traditional Lingnan Chinese ventilation skills. The analysis starts from macro to micro, from building layout to architectural element. Many aspects that might influence the micro climate are also considered, which may shed light on contemporary architectural design.
