Determining the economic effectiveness of modernizing and reconstructing existing hydroelectric plants
Conclusions 1. When determining the economic effectiveness of modernization and reconstruction of hydroelectric plant equipment, a unified methodology is required. 2. When modernizing individual hydraulic unit assemblies account should be taken of all the economic advantages obtained and to refer them to the effectiveness of the modernized assembly. 3. When determining the economic effectiveness of modernization, the total capital investments should be determined by deducting the part of the funds paid by the hydroelectric plant for replacement or renovation of the equipment and from sale of the replaced parts. 4. The additional electric energy output obtained by the conservation of water should be equated to the reduction in electric energy output at the thermoelectric plants by the same amount and, accordingly, to calculate the saving in fuel.
