Natural Frequency-Based Prestress-Force Estimation for Post-Tensioned Prestressed Concrete Beams
This paper presents a method to estimate the prestress-force in post-tensioned prestressed concrete beams by using the fundamental natural frequency. Firstly, a theory of the relation between the prestress-forces and the fundamental natural frequency in a post-tensioned prestressed concrete beam with parabolic tendon is described. Secondly, a three-dimensional finite element model for dynamic analysis of the prestressed concrete beam is modeled by using finite element method. Thirdly, the analytical natural frequencies are compared to ones from the theory and from the experimental results. Finally, the prestress-forces are estimated by using the natural frequency.
