Study of joints in precast reinforced-concrete structures of the Saratov Hydroelectric station
Conclusions 1. The studies and the tests have shown that the most a cceptable methods for obtaining tight and strong joints is by using concrete poured into wide joints with keys. Special mechanical methods of handling and pouring of concrete into the joints were worked out and good quality and density was obtained. 2. For good contact of joint material with the precast surfaces, it is recommended to use light metal net formwork with cover of burlap (or plastic). The surfaces thus formed do not require special surface treatment of the old concrete prior to joint filling with new concrete.
